17F R-matrix evaluation

Reactions fitted

  • 16O(p,γ)17F

Not yet published · R-matrix analysis: R. J. deBoer · About this evaluation

A proton and an oxygen-16 nucleus can merge for an instant into fluorine-17 (16O(p,γ)17F), which then sheds its extra energy as a γ-ray. The level scheme shows the energies at which fluorine-17 can exist (excited states, each with its spin-parity Jπ); in the plot the dots are measurements and the line is the R-matrix model, here as an S-factor. Open Plot & data, drag a slider and see whether the line still passes through the dots: the lower the χ², the better the fit.

About this evaluation

What was fitted

6 data segments from 6 data files: 5 angle-integrated cross sections, 1 total-capture cross section. The Plot & data tab overlays the model on the measurements, lets you move any free level, and lists every segment with its normalization and χ2 in its table.
