24Mg R-matrix evaluation
Reactions fitted
- 23Na(p,p)23Na
Work in progress · R-matrix analysis: J. Skowronski · About this evaluation
A proton and a sodium-23 nucleus can merge for an instant into magnesium-24 (23Na(p,p)23Na), which at once falls apart again into the same two nuclei (scattering). The level scheme shows the energies at which magnesium-24 can exist (excited states, each with its spin-parity Jπ); in the plot the dots are measurements and the line is the R-matrix model, here as the differential cross section dσ/dΩ. Open Plot & data, drag a slider and see whether the line still passes through the dots: the lower the χ², the better the fit.

About this evaluation
What was fitted
4 data segments from 3 data files: 4 differential cross sections. The Plot & data tab overlays the model on the measurements, lets you move any free level, and lists every segment with its normalization and χ2 in its table.
